OUR PRINCIPLES

At Play and Learn our goal is pretty simple, we want our children to be happy.

To this end we have created an environment which doesn’t just focus on education (although that is one of the key pillars of our developmental program) but aims at reconnecting the most important elements of child’s daily life. These include a learning element. an active element (which deals with physical needs such as activity and nutrition), a social element and a belonging element.

It is our belief that true fulfillment comes from providing an environment in which all of these elements are included and connected. A picture is worth a thousand words and so we have represented this using the Play and Learn “Connector” graphic. where each component of the child’s early learning experience is represented and interconnected.

Our Programs

Since its inception in 2006. Play and Learn has focused on delivering a child care experience for both the children and their families in an inclusive and caring environment.

While the backbone of our educational program (Stepping Stones) has been developed with the National Early Years Learning Framework, we remain committed to delivering a program that is fun and Flexible. All children are different, with different interests, experiences and personalities, and so any educational program, to be successful, needs to be Flexible enough to take advantage of these differences.

Stepping Stones Program

  • Allows our children to take educational steps for self-development (and hence personal growth)
  • Provides links through the child’s developmental stages, so important skills in the Pre-Prep room such as being able to hold a pencil correctly and write actually begins with our children in the Toddler and Babies room where they are encouraged to play in ways which develop their fine motors skills dealing with
    grip.
  • Is based on the individual children’s interest, needs and development.

Kindergarten Program

This program is aimed to give children a head start in their learning life but beyond that, it builds their social skills and strengthens their preparedness for their move to “big school”.

At Play and Learn we have always prided ourselves on our educational program, but even more importantly on the Educators which deliver it. All of our Kindergarten educators are four year, Bachelor of Education qualified teachers who have specialized in delivering this content in a child care environment.

Our program provides a progressive educational development program which begins the day your child starts with us. This program implements the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines developed by the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) and is aligned with the national Early Years Learning framework (EYLF).
